Local designers shortlisted in 2019 Australian Interior Design Awards

The visual surrounds of a restaurant can be just as crucial to the dining experience as the food itself. Stepping into a well-designed space can enchant the diner, awaken the senses and hint at the good things to come.


This month, several Queensland restaurants and their talented interior design teams have received a well-deserved pat on the back with the eagerly awaited announcement of the 2019 Australian Interior Design Awards shortlist. Aimed at celebrating interior design excellence and innovation within Australia, the awards navigate categories including Retail Design, Workplace Design, Public Design, Installation Design, Residential Design, Residential Decoration and of course, Hospitality Design.

Now in its 16th year, the Australian Interior Design Awards shortlisted Fellow Interiors and Tim Stewart Architects for Rivershed at Howard Smith Wharves, Mim Design for Nineteen at The Star on the Gold Coast and Plus for Brisbane City’s Persone Bar and Restaurant in the Hospitality Design category. Brisbane architects Hogg&Lamb were also shortlisted for their Paddington B&B Residence in the Residential Design category, while Public Design saw Conrad Gargett shortlisted for Bille Brown Theatre in South Brisbane and Cox Architecture for the Waltzing Matilda Centre.
