Chase it – Brisbane set to become home to the world’s tallest man-made waterfall

We know you may have heard some advice to the contrary, but sometimes chasing waterfalls can yield some pretty spectacular results. A case in point is Aria Property Group – the development giant has just won approval to transform Brisbane’s skyline with the world’s tallest man-made waterfall.

Set to take up residence on Hope Street in South Brisbane, Aria’s latest development project features a tower of 216 residential apartments topped with a 50-metre rooftop lap pool – from which the 118-metre high waterfall will cascade. The waterfall centrepiece itself has been spearheaded by the world-renowned water feature specialists at WET Design and will utilise a moving texture paired with glistening lights to captivate passers-by. Less than 250 litres of water will be used during the waterfall’s 18-hour per day cycle.

Koichi Takada Architects were awarded the honour of designing the Hope Street project, with inspiration drawn from Queensland’s rainforests and sub-tropical climate. The tower will boast hanging gardens and overflowing planters flowing down the sides of the building, embracing Council’s ‘Buildings that Breathe’ guidelines. As well as more than half of the ground floor of the building being publicly accessible, the project is also being delivered alongside a 1500-sqm community park adjoining Fish Lane – the first of its size in Brisbane for more than 20 years.

This is just the top of the waterfall – for more details, head to Aria Property Group’s website.
