Albion’s train station set to receive a substantial redevelopment

The inner-north precinct bracketed by Mawarra Street and Albion and Hudson Roads will be redeveloped as part of a new project led by Geon Property. The Albion Train Station Precinct Development will see roughly $750 million invested across a range of updates, including accessibility, retail and commercial uses and enhancement of public spaces.

A recent agreement reached with Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Rail has given the green light for Geon Property to progress with its proposal to redevelop the Albion train station. The four-hectare site, which has long been earmarked for development, will be overhauled to reportedly improve connectivity and public transport facilities, while also making an engaging community hub for locals to enjoy.

The proposed redevelopment will see the precinct transformed to accommodate several new amenities. The site will offer new residential accommodation, office spaces, retail additions and new dining options, while the train station itself with be the beneficiary of a substantial overhaul. Approximately $28.7 million will be used to upgrade transport facilities and public access, which will look to tie in with previously proposed additions including a new platform with lifts, hearing aid loops, tactile flooring surfaces and more. Head to the Geon Property website for more information.
