After a review of the preliminary assessment and initial proposal for a substantial revamp of Eagle Street Pier, the green light has been given to Dexus to advance to stage two of its market-led-proposal program, which will include a detailed submission for the area’s rejuvenation. This stage will involve Dexus working with Brisbane City Council and Translink to consider the feasibility of the proposed works, including detailed planning, traffic impact modelling and potential impacts on local residents and businesses. This step will precede the final binding offer, which will cement the works for city-shaping development
If completely approved, the redevelopment would add numerous new amenities to Eagle Street Pier to further enhance accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists. The project will add a 1.5-hectare public space to the riverside precinct, more restaurants and casual eateries, renovations for the heritage-listed Naldham House, seven day a week activations, a widened and upgraded riverwalk, shaded terraces stepping down to the river, sub-tropical landscaping, and a traffic-free section of Eagle Street for a cyclist-friendly promenade.
