If you’ve been tossing up whether or not to dive into the realm of reusable straws, the sheer convenience of FinalStraw might just be enough to tip you over the edge. This collapsible wonder comes in a keychain-friendly container, folding down to a totally compact size and measuring 23cm when unfurled. The actual body of the straw itself is made from stainless steel with medical-grade TPE (that’s thermoplastic elastomers), meaning it’s also BPA free and dishwasher safe. For cleaning on the fly, FinalStraw comes with a little squeegee that also fits in the container.
FinalStraw is the brainchild of Emma Cohen and Miles Pepper, an environmental scientist and cinematographer respectively who took their idea to Kickstarter. It went totally gangbusters, well exceeding its modest target of around $16,000 and currently sitting at $1.4 million with more than 22,000 people backing the idea. The duo has created a variety of support options, with straws obviously getting cheaper the more you pledge to donate. The fundraising portion of the campaign ends on Saturday May 19, with production on the straws due to begin in September for orders to be fulfilled in November.
