Updated designs for the forthcoming Kangaroo Point green bridge reveal several overwater dining spaces

The Brisbane City Council has shared brand-new renderings of its proposed pedestrian and cycling bridge that will connect Kangaroo Point to Brisbane City. In addition to showcasing the expected look of the bridge, the council has also announced that the project has the potential to include an overwater restaurant, bar and event space.

The much-anticipated Kangaroo Point Green Bridge linking to The City has taken another step towards completion, with council awarding the contract to Connect Brisbane, led by BESIX Watpac, to design and construct the project following an extensive procurement process. The council has unveiled new designs after the recent completion of the fourth stage of technical investigations and design development. These illustrated renders show the bridge’s sleek single-mast suspension-cable design, with a shade structure running the bridge’s entire length and a viewing platform and elevated entry point on the Kangaroo Point side.

Also included in the artist’s impressions are several new dining and drinking spaces on the bridge and its Brisbane City landing, which will be subject to further designs and approvals. The visual assets outline a potential restaurant, bar and event space above the viewing area on the approach to the City landing, a cafe at the City landing plaza, and several small food and beverage outlets at different points across the bridge. Construction of the green bridge will commence late this year, with expected completion by late 2023.
