Kirra Beach Hotel to be redeveloped into luxury apartments, boutique hotel, shops and a new pub in $380 million project

The largest residential and mixed-use project to hit southern Gold Coast in decades has received DA approval and is set to roll out in a series of stages.

Kirra Beach has always held a special place in the hearts of surfers, beachgoers and locals, but now the $380 million redevelopment of the iconic Kirra Beach Hotel is sure to attract even more spectators to the suburb. The approval of grand plans to revitalise the site will see a complete rebuild of the pub, as well as a second hospitality and function venue, luxury residences, a boutique lifestyle hotel and a laneway retail precinct.

The project is being steered by Brisbane-based developer KTQ Group, who is well-known for its multi-award-winning beachfront resort Elements of Byron, the Byron Solar Train and The Sun Bistro bar and function venue. After purchasing the iconic Kirra Beach Hotel 10 years ago, the group took its time to carefully consider the design of the new lifestyle precinct in the hope that the final plans will enhance and serve as a gathering place for the suburb. Stage 1 will comprise 118 apartments aimed at the owner-occupier market and a brand-new pub with a cocktail bar and function venue. The second stage will feature a 10-storey building with 80 apartments, and the third stage will see the build of a 78-room, four-storey hotel. Construction of Stage 1 will begin mid-2021 and is expected to take two-and-a-half years to complete.
