Inspired by the world renowned Borough Market in London, Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market and the original wet markets of Brisbane, Lamington Markets is being touted as a catalyst development set to revitalise the currently under-utilised connection corridor to Brisbane City. The proposed project is being undertaken by Marketplace Developments and designed by Conrad Gargett Architects as one of the first truly integrated, future-thinking developments built to accomodate an increasingly ageing population with the inclusion of a proposed aged care facility and associated rehabilitation services alongside general residential and public amenities.
The staged development is intended to include two residential towers – 14-storeys and 21-storeys, respectively – containing a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units, plus a rooftop swimming pool and communal open space for residents. Lamington Markets will also incorporate 12,000-sqm of podium retail and commercial space for a cinema, retail, food and drink outlet, office, bar, shopping centre and hotel. The development application is currently before Brisbane City Council but we’ll have more information for you as it comes to light, watch this space!
