Karaoke stages, waterfalls and Turkish bathhouses – five baller Queensland pads that you can call yours

Karaoke stages, waterfalls and Turkish bathhouses – five baller Queensland pads that you can call yours

We’ve all fantasised of living in a huge mansion with enough rooms to get lost in. In reality, however, our budgets are a little (lot) more modest – though it doesn’t hurt to dream. With a little help from a certain search engine, we can have a sneak peek at extravagant addresses that just scream luxury. We're not talking your standard six-bedroom, five-bathroom mansions here – we're talking straight-up 80s-drug-dealer yes-I-have-my-own-helicopter ridiculousness – and there are SEVERAL (well, at least five) of these mansions currently on the market in Queensland. So if you've got a spare $8 (or $45) million lying around, time to get out the cheque book and live your Tony Montana dreams. If not, it might be time to arrange that sugar daddy.

156 Tallai Road, Tallai
Winner of the Queensland Master Builders Association ‘House of the Year’ in 2008, this palatial Tallai mansion and its seperate (enormous) guest residences really do impress with luxe facilities, a beautiful location and panoramic coastal views. Linked by a glass elevator, three absolutely huuuuuuge levels showcase nine rooms, seven bathrooms, a steam room, gymnasium (with a custom UFC mural), wine cellar and tasting room, an infinity pool, a six-car garage and a zen garden complete with a waterfall (we aspire to be this extra). Plus, if you’re missing going out to the clubs, the house even boasts a full-sized wet bar, karaoke stage, dance floor and an elevated alfresco terrace. There’s also a 16-seat cinema with a state-of-the-art sound system for all of the Netflix binge sessions. A second residence built for service staff features with two wings comprising of dual-living rooms, two master suites with walk-in robes and en suites, a third bedroom, a kitchen and a whole other media room. Peep the grand designs here.

26–32 Knightsbridge Parade East, Sovereign Islands
When it comes to OTT extravagance, this property listing in Sovereign Islands on the Gold Coast truly takes the cake. With a price tag of $45 million (petty cash, really), this grand abode is sprawled across 4,254 sqm with 106 m of water frontage across five blocks of land. Designed by Brunei Royal Family architect Bayden Goddard, this lavish residence is made up of two wings connected by a jaw-dropping grand hall and a breathtaking foyer – there’s even a fully self-contained ground-level maid’s quarter. Boasting six oversized bedrooms, a Hamptons-style kitchen, a Turkish bathhouse, wine cellar, 30-m pool, a 12-car garage, a personal library and a lift servicing all three levels – you could say the six years it took to build this costly project was well worth the wait (even if it was just to have a peep at the pictures). 267 Main Street, Kangaroo Point
A much-loved gem among property aficionados, contemporary heritage property Silverwells is snuggled between the Story Bridge and riverfront gardens in Kangaroo Point. Possibly one of Brisbane’s oldest residences (it was built circa 1860), Silverwells has been beautifully restored – while maintaining its classic Georgian charm – and extended to maximise its magical city skyline views. Its more recent improvements include the riverside pool terrace and entertaining area, top-notch Gaggenau kitchen and a four-car basement garage. Old-school elegance is still well and truly alive within the the sophisticated pad with crystal ball chandeliers, kauri pine floorboards and eye-catching French doors all making an appearance. The property includes four large bedrooms, four bathrooms, a powder room, home office, four-car garage, not one, but three traditional open fireplaces, multiple formal and casual lounge areas, living and dining areas and a well-manicured European-style garden. Plus, you can’t beat the walk to The City, South Bank and New Farm. A sneaky trip to Howard Smith Wharves, perhaps? If you’ve got a cool $5 million to spare, then this is the home that’ll make you happiest. Have a squiz at the listing here.

200 Ocean View Road, Ocean View
If you’re a Francophile with a bit of spare money in the bank, then this French chateau-inspired manor home is just waiting to be snapped up. Sitting atop a picturesque 10-acre piece of land, with beautiful panoramas to the ocean and hinterland, this modern European-style property holds a stone castle-like tower at its centre, surrounded by walled courtyards, magnificent water features and charming cottage gardens. With five bedrooms, four bathrooms as well as opulent living and dining areas with travertine floors, stained-glass windows and a stone fireplace, we think this is the closest you’ll get to living in a real-life Disney castle. To enjoy the views while entertaining, there’s an expansive deck area, an in-ground pool edged into the hillside and lush gardens complete with woodfired pizza oven. Plus, if you’re keen to host your mates, there are two separate cottages with self-contained facilities.
