News Corp announces Millennium Square – a large-scale urban renewal project for Bowen Hills

The coming years are going to see some pretty big changes in Brisbane. The latest in a long list of massive property announcements will see Bowen Hills transforming into Brisbane’s information centre. News Corp Australia has shared details of a new $2-billion precinct, set to house a 'world-class media and innovation hub' and a range of amenities in the heart of Bowen Hills.


In a report by The Courier-Mail, it has been revealed that News Corp Australia is partnering with PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Real Estate and Architecture firm Archipelago to realise the vision for Millennium Square, which will aim to establish a ‘city within a city’ in the heart of Bowen Hills. PwC is set to start the process of securing a joint venture partner for the development, which has reportedly been in the works since 2015. 

The master plan, as reported by The Courier-Mail, features a state-of-the-art media hub, new residential towers, retail outlets, lifestyle and entertainment amenities, public gardens and access to a redeveloped Bowen Hills train station. The first stage will include a commercial office tower that is reportedly house The Courier-Mail, The Sunday Mail, The Australian, Quest, News Regional Media and Sky News. Other digital technology, media and new knowledge companies will also be able to obtain tenancies in the building. Stage two will most likely begin after 2020, and will include a hotel, upwards of seven apartment towers, a subterranean retail centre, a cinema and restaurants.
