The Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre is set to get a serious makeover, with owner Vicinity Centres proposing a development application for an expansion of the existing space. Taking on a new identity as the Mt Ommaney Entertainment and Leisure Precinct, the project is set to supersede an existing application for the promising extension. If approved, the new application will add 11,481sqm of additional retail space including a new seven-screen cinema, gym, pub, dining and entertainment precinct as well as space for a rebuilt community centre on the ground level.
An existing community centre and office space would be demolished to make way for the new six-storey development, which has been designed by Blight Rayner. The development would also transform the existing mall from a closed-in space to a more open and outdoor-focused offering, with green spaces and alfresco dining making the most of our famous Queensland climate.
