The Fortitude Valley Music Hall offers first glimpse of its Brunswick Street venue

While Fortitude Valley’s entertainment precinct buzzes with all of the frenzied BIGSOUND activity, the folks behind Brunswick Street Mall’s anticipated live-music venue The Fortitude Valley Music Hall gave some insight into what to expect from the state-of-the-art 3300 capacity development.

There were resounding cheers of joy across Brisbane when several of Australian music’s key players and supporters announced plans to transform the old Festival Hall building into Fortitude Valley’s next preeminent live-music destination. John ‘JC’ Collins (of Brisbane icons Powderfinger and owner of The Triffid), Paul Piticco (co-founder of Secret Sounds) and Scott Hutchison (chairman of Hutchinson Builders) are teaming up for the sizeable venue, which is currently underway on Brunswick Street. On Wednesday September 5, the executives gave Brisbane a sneak peek of what to expect, revealing The Fortitude Valley Music Hall name while also sharing insight into the venue’s design and aesthetic.

Award-winning Queensland architect Andrew Gutteridge from Arkhefield is spearheading the design, which will boast an Art Deco-inspired façade reminiscent of Brisbane’s classic theatre venues. The Fortitude Valley Music Hall will also feature a mixed-use retail and events space, with food and beverage venues incorporated into the building’s offering. The executive group has also announced a partnership with entertainment company Live Nation, which will help facilitate securing high-level talent to perform at the new venue. The Fortitude Valley Music Hall is reportedly looking to open to the public in mid-2019.
