Get the first glimpse of W Brisbane’s five-star Australian arrival

The term ‘five-star’ isn’t thrown around lightly – it’s reserved for the crème de la crème. The best of the best. W Brisbane has long been touted as a five-star experience worth looking forward to, and first impressions indicate that the hotel has delivered on its promise. Opening today, Friday June 1, W Brisbane is the first five-star hotel arrive in Brisbane in 20 years, marking the return of W Hotels Worldwide to Australia. With more than 300 suites, a marquee restaurant, stunning design and world-class amenities, it’s going to be hard to to settle for anything less than five stars from now on.

Ever since the announcement of W Brisbane’s arrival made headlines nearly four years ago, we’ve been keeping an eye on the building’s progress at North Quay. The wait is finally over – W Brisbane will today open its doors the public, allowing guests and curious eyes to get a glimpse of the city’s first five-star hotel arrival in 20 years. The impressive location and exterior is matched by the combination of cutting-edge design and superior amenities. The ultra-modern interiors designed by Nic Graham & Associates follow the theme of ‘A River Dreaming’ – a conceptual homage to the banks of the Brisbane River on which the hotel sits, which links various aspects of the region’s history into a exquisite tapestry.

Senses will be stimulated from the very first moment you enter W Brisbane’s distinct lobby area. The Welcome Desk (which sits atop a staircase of timber river reeds) showcases a palette of earthy tones, raw elements and textural layers reminiscent of the Australian outback, helping to highlight bold works from artistic luminaries such as John Nicholson, Lucas Grogan and Reko Rennie. The Living Room – W Brisbane’s entry-level common space – is bathed in pools of colour, curvilinear shapes on the bench tops and bar fronts, and blade grass along the room’s edges as a further representation of the surrounding nature. The hotel boasts 312 guest rooms accessed via neon-lit lifts, including 32 ultra-luxe suites with unimpeded river views and top-of-the-line amenities. W Brisbane’s rooms feature an aesthetic inspired by iconic Queenslander homes, with white walls reminiscent of VJ wall panels and quirky design touches that nod to definitive Australian experiences. Living up to its name, the Extreme WOW Suite (W’s version of the classic presidential suite) on level 33 boasts all of that and more, with unobstructed panoramic views across the river to the mountains and beyond.

W Brisbane offers a multi-faceted approach to food and drink, opening three distinct venues that provide a suite of experiences. Leading the offering is the highly anticipated (and Queensland-first) arrival of Three Blue Ducks and its ethical spin on contemporary cuisine. The Living Room Bar is a sleek lounge-meets-cocktail bar, with a specialised liquid curator whipping up handcrafted potions nightly. Finally, the poolside WET® Deck is a chic rooftop bar that boasts sun lounges, eye-catching mosaic tiling and unrivalled views of the cityscape. The stately 595-sqm Great Room will host events of all kinds, equipped with world-class audio-visual facilities and statement decorative touches that will impress. W Brisbane’s AWAY® Spa will deliver top-notch treatments from Sodashi™ and Skeyndor™ facials, massages and pampering packages, as well as vitality pools, relaxation pods, his and hers salt inhalation chambers and aromatherapy steam rooms to enhance the pamper experience. Completing the package is hair salon Edwards and Co. and state-of-the-art gym facilities at the Technogym®.
