Hidden gems – explore off the beaten track and adventure through Noosa’s natural wonders

There’s no better way to cure a case of cabin fever than an adventure to destinations yet visited – and Noosa has an abundance of natural wonders and hidden gems to explore! You can traverse through lush rainforest in national parks, go on heart-pumping hikes across vast sandy dunes, discover native wildlife and more in this dazzling scenic region. We think it's about time you gave into your wanderlust and got back to nature, so here are a few ideas to put on your Noosa bucket list.

Hike the Cooloola Great Walk
If hiking is a holiday must, you’ll be pleased to know Noosa has a long and windy road full of treks worth checking out. Our top pick is the Cooloola Great Walk, an 88-km walk that will surprise and delight with natural attractions (as well as test your fitness levels!). You’ll trek through subtropical rainforest, across sandy beaches and on top of towering headlands throughout this hike, so make sure to bring along proper equipment. The walk takes around five days to complete and is no easy feat, but is one of the most incredible and memorable ways to explore Noosa’s natural wonders.

Kayak through the Noosa Everglades
The Noosa Everglades is an itinerary essential for adventure seekers visiting Noosa and the best way to experience this natural beauty is by paddling through the crystal-clear waters. Take a guided kayaking tour of the area courtesy of Kanu Kapers or undertake a self-guided kayaking experience and explore the waterways while you take in all of the natural beauty that the Everglades has to offer. Top tip – keep your eyes to the sky, as the Everglades is home to more than half of Australia’s bird species.

Go sailing off remote coasts
Want to sail the waters in style? Fraser Island Boat Charters offers self-skippered luxury boat hire from the Great Sandy Straits Marina. Once you’ve put on your captain’s hat and sailed out of the marina, you’ll be greeted with views of Round Island, Woody Island and over to World Heritage-listed Fraser Island (known as K’gari in the Indigenous Butchulla language), which stretches more than 123 km along the southern coast of Queensland.

Spot dingoes and more amazing wildlife at Fraser Island
The world’s largest sand island and Noosa’s nearby natural oasis– K’gari (Fraser Island) – offers an abundance of adventures. Walk through lush rainforest, take a dip in freshwater lakes, hike across dunes and discover the Maheno shipwreck on 75 Mile Beach. Plus, there’s plenty of wildlife to check out on Fraser – in the water you can spot dolphins, dugongs and turtles, and on land you can keep an eye out for dingoes, possums, wallabies and some extremely cute sugar gliders.
