The Roadtrip Series: go next-level luxe at these top glamping spots

There are two kinds of people – those who enjoy camping, and those who value their sanity (kidding, but not really). While the idea of camping is pretty sweet, the practicalities can often take the shine off the experience – getting mauled my mozzies and using squat loos does not a cute experience make. This is where glamping comes in – you get the perks of being immersed in nature whilst skipping out on the gnarly stuff! Together with our official site partner Mercedes-Benz Brisbane and its wanderlust ambassador Sofie Formica, we’ve picked the best glamping spots for those who love the great outdoors minus the grit.

Ketchup’s Bank – Boonah
If you’re keen on the whole romantic aspect of sleeping under the stars minus the harsh realities that come with it, Ketchup’s Bank is the place to go for primo glamping. The luxury accommodations are set on 100 acres of picturesque Australian bushland with breathtaking mountain views, and have the added benefit of being ecologically friendly.

twe-nightfall-glampingNightfall – Lamington Park
Exclusive vibes abound at Nightfall, a gorgeous camp that is limited to only six travellers at any given time. This ensures that you won’t be shoulder-to-shoulder with any neighbours, enhancing the whole off-grid experience. The permanent safari tents are hand-built and architecturally inspired, shunning the excess of modern life in favour of thoughtful touches like fire-cooked cuisine.

twe-spicers-glampingSpicers Canopy – Maryvale
Nestled in a private nature refuge, the Spicers Canopy offers guests a fully hosted, all-inclusive back to nature experience. The solar powered site makes it tricky to stay glued to your phone, providing the perfect opportunity to get back to basics and chill the heck out. Luxury tents, a roomy lounge with a killer fireplace and an open-plan kitchen flowing out onto a large veranda make for a very cosy stay.

twe-mercbenz-glamping-01Murphy’s Creek Hideaway – Upper Lockyer
This little gem is pretty much a resort in the middle of nature – fluffy robes and claw-foot bathtub included. Murphy’s Creek Hideaway is studded with Safari tents each kitted out with a king size bed, private ensuite, a mini bar and even a rain shower! Once you’ve taken in a Murphy’s Creek sunset, you’ll have a hard time going back to reality.

twe-glamping-tuckersTuckers Retreat – Ferny Glen
Glamping is already pretty baller, but Tuckers Retreat takes it to another level. Set on 10 lush acres in the Scenic Rim, these eco tents are no joke – each comes kitted out with a MOTHER FLIPPIN’ JACUZZI! Picture yourself sipping champagne in a hot tub whilst an adorable kangaroo hops on by. Now, book in to Tuckers Retreat and make it a reality, fool.

twe_flash-camp-byron_01-1-1100x550-c-defaultFlash Camp – Byron Bay
For bigger groups, Flash Camp has got your back. Based in Byron Bay, patrons can choose to go DIY and take advantage of the hire service or have a team pitch the tents and cater to the crew. Hosts can choose to pay one fixed fee or have guests book and pay for their accommodation via Flash Camp’s online booking system – no awkward chats about splitting costs.

twe-glamping-pitchPitch Luxury Camping – Noosa Heads
Who said you have to ditch comfort to get down with nature? Not the gang from Pitch, that’s for sure. These guys hire out luxury tents, pitching them on private properties and public camping grounds from Noosa (we’re they’re based) to Byron Bay and beyond. If you’ve got a spot in mind, get in touch and they’ll hook you up.
