Get in touch with nature (but keep it fancy) with Starry Nights glamping accommodation

In a year where most of us have spent more time glued to our screens than ever before, the need to get back to nature has never been more pertinent. As much as going bush seems like a good idea in theory, there are some people (us amongst them) who just don’t get down with the more gritty aspects of going off the grid – such as mozzies, stuffy tents and using a strategically placed hole in the ground as a loo. If you’ve been longing for a glamping escape, we’ve found just the spot – say hello to Starry Nights, the Sunshine Coast’s luxe new digs that offer the perfect balance between nature and nurture.

Set on 17 hectares in the beautiful hinterland township of Woombye, Starry Nights is a labour of love that has been three years in the making. Owners Shane and Nicole Nelson wanted to scout the perfect location that mixed serenity, seclusion and nature in equal amounts – and they’ve absolutely hit the nail on the head. It’s not just the spot itself that is totally eco – the duo has also made every effort to ensure the whole Starry Nights experience is as green as possible. Each of the two tents is made from natural building materials, the floors are finished with a natural hard bees’ wax oil, the kitchenette is made from solid wood (entirely plastic-free), plus doonas and rugs are either organic linen or natural wool fibre. The tents themselves – as well as all of the interior furnishings – have been designed by Shane and Nicole, whose sustainable ethos has been thoughtfully woven throughout. The generously sized (75-sqm) tents have been built to showcase their breathtaking surroundings, with each containing a king-sized bed (with USB chargers), lounge area, kitchenette, ensuite rain head shower and toilet, plus the piece de resistance – a glorious freestanding bathtub for secluded soaking sessions.

The Starry Nights experience has been painstakingly crafted to ensure total privacy and maximum relaxing vibes without having to totally disconnect. Each off-ground tent has full-length “windows” ideal for catching summer breezes (or being zipped up to ward off a winter chill). Speaking of climate control, you will also find a rotating fireplace and ceiling fans fit to keep you comfy whatever the weather throws at you. Guests receive a daily cook-your-own breakfast hamper packed with the finest local produce and fruit from Starry Nights’ own gardens. There is also a large communal recreation area available which boasts dining facilities, a pizza oven, sauna and pool table. In this spot, guests can also order organic wines, beers, and fruit juice or make themselves a cuppa to enjoy while scoping the bountiful wildlife that surrounds the area. For those who want to venture out, the site is a stone’s throw from the idyllic heritage communities of Montville, Maleny and Mapleton – perfect for a spot of shopping, gallery-hopping or chill cafe time.

Ready to spend some quality time with Mother Nature (but with all of the creature comforts)? You can book Starry Nights luxury glamping directly through its website – and you can even score yourself a welcome cheese platter and organic Australian sparkling wine on arrival for doing so!
