The Brisbane food scene has come a long way in 12 years, and so have our EAT/drink awards. The awards launched with our beloved map magazine in 2007 as Brisbane’s first entirely reader-voted food awards. Following map’s retirement in 2014, The Weekend Edition has continued to grow the awards and celebrate the best places in Brisbane to eat and drink.
The past year and a half has been a big one for food and drink venues, and it’s time to recognise the unheard of, the institutions, the rising stars, the midnight pitstops and the unbeatable. The Weekend Edition’s EAT/drink Awards delve into Brisbane’s culinary culture to determine locals’ favourite places to eat and play, and now is your chance to make sure your favourite foodie destination is in the running for this year’s awards. Be it the lazy corner cafe, award-winning restaurant, latest bar or food truck, there’s a place to eat and drink for everyone in Brisbane.
That’s right – the The Weekend Edition EAT/drink Awards are back for 2019! This year we are thrilled to announce that the awards will be sponsored by Newstead Brewing Co. – a beloved Brisbane-born institution and one of the biggest proponents for craft-beer in Queensland. This year we will be asking you – our dear readers – to cast your vote for what you think is Brisbane’s best, be it best new cafe, your favourite bar, the top restaurant and many more categories. This year we have brought back our special bonus category – Best Food Porn. This category is voted exclusively on Instagram – drool-worthy dishes that are snapped and posted to Instagram and tagged @_weekendedition and #TWEFoodPorn are in the running to win!
In appreciation for your time taken to vote, Newstead Brewing Co. will be putting together a VIP package for the voter who selected the most winners across all the categories. Details are still under wraps, but believe us when we say that you’ll want to be in the running. Stay tuned for more details!
