If for whatever reason you’re not across the story of A Christmas Carol, let us bring you up to speed. It’s the ultimate festive tale – set on a grim and gloomy Christmas Eve, we are introduced to Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserable old miser who is spending the night counting his money and cursing the happiness of others. Through the evening he is visited by three spirits directly from the grave, sent to teach him moral lessons about his wicked ways. When Scrooge awakens on Christmas Day, he has a whole new lease on life. See? Total classic.
A Christmas Carol has been brought to life on stage by a killer team – the piece is directed by the award-winning Michael Futcher and adapted for stage by co-Artistic Director for shake & stir theatre co Nelle Lee (who also stars in the show). Brisbane favourite Eugene Gilfedder takes the lead as Scrooge alongside a cast of talent including Ross Balbuziente, Salliana Campbell, Arnijka Larcombe-Weate, Bryan Probets, Nick Skubij and Lucas Stibbard. Audiences can expect live musicians, yuletide carolling, lavish costumes and (of course) snow, with stunning set design by Josh McIntosh and video design by Craig Wilkinson. Another layer of goodness comes in the form of a new atmospheric composition from composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Salliana Campbell that was created especially for the show.
A Christmas Carol hits QPAC from December 7–16. Don’t be a Scrooge – grab tickets before they disappear.
