Brisbane’s best bars team up for four weeks of drinks as part of Australian Cocktail Month

Next month, one $20 ticket will score you access to a secret menu at many of Brisbane's best drinking establishments. Australian Cocktail Month is kicking off in May, with 145 venues across 12 Australian cities signing on to create limited-edition libations made from some of the finest spirits on the market.

The past few years have been tough on the bar scene and we probably don’t need to remind you why. Thankfully, with our favourite watering holes now open and operating without the looming spectre of lockdowns, it feels as if things are starting to look up for our beloved libation slingers. That means it’s a great time for Australian Cocktail Month to return. The annual celebration of all things shaken, stirred, swizzled and sluiced is once again linking up with scores of Australia’s best bars, getting all of them to whip up a specially curated cocktail that will be available to ticket holders from May 1–31.

Brisbane’s roster of bars participating in the Australian Cocktail Month in 2022 include (but isn’t limited to) inner-city watering holes like Alba Bar & DeliDr GimletteFrog’s Hollow SaloonSuper Whatnot and The Gresham, as well as Fortitude Valley stand-outs Gerard’s BarQueens and Savile Row, plus suburban sipping spots Sasso ItalianoMr Badger’sCanvas Club and Cobbler. So, how does it Australian Cocktail Month work? First, head to the website to buy a ticket – this will cover you for the entire month. Then, head to your favourite participating bar, show the team your ticket and you’ll be able to order the venue’s special cocktail for $14, or a low- or no-alcohol option for $10. Highlight sips include Frog’s Hollow’s Soft Rock with Balvenie 12-year-old single malt Scotch whisky, Dubonnet, plum and bitters, Dr Gimlette’s Daylilly with Warner’s rhubarb gin and house apple crumb syrup, and Savile Row’s Cherry Bomb, which features Patron reposado tequila and Fever-Tree ginger beer. Be sure to give Australian Cocktail Month a follow on Instagram to see which spirit partners are also onboard this year.
