Brewsvegas brings us Japanese game shows, three-legged races, beermuda triangles and dog days

Brisbane has a lot going for it – our people are friendly, our weather is ridiculously good and our craft-beer scene is second to none. While more southern states might have been stealing the brewing spotlight in years past, our town has well and truly come to take the crown when it comes to beer. Want proof? Look no further than Brewsvegas, baby. The annual festival returns from March 14–24, filling a host of our city’s finest venues with the hoppiest happenings to celebrate our thriving craft-beer culture.

Coming into its sixth year with all taps blazing, Brewsvegas has evolved and expanded to fit Brisbane’s flourishing beer scene. The festival shines a light on all aspects of our city’s beer landscape, from the amazing breweries we have right through to the dedicated bars that pour our favourite drops. The Brewsvegas program is loaded with activities for all levels of beer enthusiasm, from die-hard hop-heads to those who just enjoy knocking back a cold one. It’s easy to navigate your way through the events depending on how you enjoy beer, with the program split into categories like food, culture, passion (looking at you, beer nerds) and general goodness.

When we say there’s something for everyone in the Brewsvegas line-up, we’re not kidding – organisers have gone above and beyond to cater to every sudsy niche you can imagine. This year sees Battle of the Band Brews make its debut, as well as a boozy three-legged race to drink and discover the best venues from Newstead to The Valley. Gourmands have got a gluttony of events to choose from – think blind banquets, farm-to-table feasts and even hangover breakfasts if you’ve been going too hard. Oh, and don’t worry – crowd favourites like the Pint of Origin, chilli cook-off and Japanese game show night are most definitely returning for another round.

This is just the tip of a very tasty iceberg – to froth on the rest of the jam-packed program you can head to the Brewsvegas website. Alternatively, pop down to any of the participating venues to grab a physical copy and peruse the program with a cold one in hand.
