Hardcore barbecue fanatics will be stoked to note that the competition aspect of the Brisbane BBQ Festival has dramatically increased in size – meat mavericks from some of Australia’s best ‘cue crews will duke it out across six categories to win the crown of Brisbane BBQ Champions. The demonstration area has doubled since last year, increasing access to expert advice and (of course) plenty of tastings throughout the festival. You won’t want to miss Grant Coleman and the Manning Valley Natural Smokers – these guys are responsible for some of the best brisket in the whole world (literally). For those who prefer to wander, the festival will be playing host to 15 food vendors ready to satisfy – meaty morsels from brisket to wings and everything in between will be available.
If you can stave of your burgeoning meat sweats, it’s worth taking the time to explore the rest of what the Brisbane BBQ Festival has to offer. All of that food is bound to make anyone a bit thirsty, so patrons can sip the weekend away with beverages from the various bars on site – from beer to cocktails and even bourbon, every taste is catered to. Live music will set the soundtrack to your day, with some of the country’s finest rockabilly and bluegrass acts taking to the stage – think Asa Broomhall, The Sugar Shakers, Open Season, Colt Seavers, Ben Wilson Band, Little Billie Music and The Long Johns. For those with little ones in tow, don’t fret – they will be kept more than busy with a huge host of rides and entertainment to take advantage of.
