Karma kegs, rock gigs and decadent dinners – events around Brisbane raising funds for the bushfire relief

Australia is currently facing one of the most catastrophic bushfire seasons on record. To date, more than 1700 homes have been lost, 25 lives lost, eight million hectares burnt, and more than 100,000 livestock and millions of native and endangered wildlife have perished.* To support the heroic Rural Fire Service volunteers, as well as the many communities and animals affected, our great city is coming together to host a range of fundraising events. From karma kegs to Valley gigs and long-table dinners, we have put together a list of events that are helping to raise money for bushfire relief.


From Brisbane, With Love – A Fire Relief BenefitThe Triffid, Newstead
The Triffid is bringing together the greater community for a Sunday session of song, hosting From Brisbane, With Love – A Fire Relief Benefit on Sunday January 19. An all-star line-up of musical performers have been announced for the event, including Alex The Astronaut, Thelma Plum, Kira Puru, The Grates and Tia Gostelow. The beer garden will open from 2:00 pm with tunes provided by Mojo Webb, while at 6:00 pm official event MC Mel Buttle will kick off the evening’s musical showcase. The Weekend Edition is proud to team up with our pals at The Triffid to help host a fundraising raffle and events on the day, with a collection of incredible prizes up for grabs to those that purchase tickets on site. All proceeds of ticket sales and special raffled prizes will be donated to Fire Relief For First Nations Communities, NSW Rural Fire Service, Victoria’s Country Fire Authority, and WIRES Wildlife Rescue. Purchase your tickets here!

BAND TOGETHERThe Zoo, Fortitude Valley
On Saturday January 25, The Zoo is bringing together some of Brisbane’s best rock bands for a benefit show to raise funds to contribute to bushfire aid and recovery. The packed line-up includes Regurgitator, The Gutterbirds, Being Jane Lane, SixFtHick and Dicklord. All proceeds from the night will go towards non-profit wildlife organisations and organisations for First Nation Peoples affected by the fires. Grab your tickets here.

Raise ‘Em Up – The Tivoli, Fortitude Valley
Head to The Tivoli on Saturday January 25 for an incredible line-up of Aussie musicians including Megan Washington, Matt Corby, The Kite String Tangle, NGAIIRE and loads more. Plus, 100-percent of all ticket, bar and merchandise profits will be donated to the Australian Red Cross Bushfire Appeal, WIRES Wildlife Rescue ​and The First Nations Fire Relief Fund.​ Tickets can be purchased here.

Bushfire Appeal Long Table – E’cco Bistro, Newstead
Chef Philip Johnson and team are donating their time and produce to a very special Bushfire Appeal Long Table Dinner at E’cco Bistro on Tuesday January 14. For only $50 a person, tuck into in a suckling pig on the spit served with salad and beer-battered fries. This event is BYO only and 100-percent of ticket sales will go towards the Bushfire Crisis Appeal. For bookings, call 07 3831 8461 or book online.

Revel Bushfire AppealRevel Brewing Co., Bulimba 
Revel Brewing Co. will be donating $2 from the sale of each Pale Ale and Summer Ale sold in the brewery to the bushfire crisis on Saturday January 11. All funds will be equally allocated to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service and the RSPCA NSW Bushfire Appeal. There will also be a donation box at the brewery on the day, so any spare gold coins are encouraged.

A Bushfire Fundraiser Event – Black Bear Lodge, Fortitude Valley
Local Brissy artists are coming together for a very special show at Black Bear Lodge on Saturday February 1. The line-up includes Emily Rink, Billy Axford, Hope Street, Emma Hudson, Martini Band, Issy Burnup and Patient Lounge, with all proceeds from the event will going to the Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal.

Brew Bushfire Relief Fundraiser – Brew Cafe & Wine Bar, Brisbane City
Thirsty folk can enjoy an icy-cold one for a good cause on Sunday January 26 at Brew’s Bushfire Relief Fundraiser. The bar is tapping a karma keg, thanks to Stone & Wood Brewing, and donating the profits to the NSW Rural Fire Service. Its resident music guy, Wolfe Peterson will be providing the live music and general good vibes from 4:00 pm.

Bushfire Relief Fundraiser Gig – The Milk Factory, South Brisbane
On Saturday January 11, The Milk Factory is hosting a night of incredible music with the aim of raising some cash to help out those affected by the bushfires. Your Man Alex Smith will be hitting the stage, so head down and bring some change to help out those who need it!

Scomo’s Lobotomy: 5 bands for $15 – The Flamin’ Galah, Brisbane City
On Friday January 31, head to The Flamin’ Galah for a $15 gig for a good cause. The line-up includes Infinite Christmas, Lexicon, Western Pleasure, Knifer, and Stress Pleaser. All ticket sales will be donated to the Goongerah Climate Refugees Support & Rebuild Fund.

Bushfire Benefit GigThe Cave Inn, Woolloongabba 
The Cave Inn in Wooloongabba is holding a benefit gig on Saturday January 18 with profits going towards the Bushfire Appeal. Stay tuned, acts to be announced very soon.

Beer for Bushfire ReliefSlipstream Brewing, Yeerongpilly
Join Slipstream Brewing on Saturday January 18 as the team puts on a karma keg of Laguna Tropical Pale Ale, with food by The Tasty Pocket and a raffle of a mega Slipstream Brewing pack including beer and merchandise. All money raised will be donated equally between the NSW Rural Fire Service and the Victorian CFA.

Tomcat Bushfire Appeal GigTomcat, Fortitude Valley
Brisbane bands are coming together for a live show to raise funds for the NSW Rural Fire Service at Tomcat on Saturday February 8. The line-up includes Claiming it Anyway, Black Whiskey, Aidan Bradley, OceanShores, Prunda and many, many more. With tickets going for only $10, this is a guaranteed great time for a great cause.

Camp Paprika x Emense Pres: Black Loops Charity Fundraiser – Sub Rosa, Fortitude Valley
On Saturday January 11, Sub Rosa will host Black Loops with support from Kris Diahann, Tantrum and Will D. Ness. Tickets are $20 per person with 100-percent of event proceeds going towards the bushfire appeal. Nab yourself a ticket here.

Venus Envy Bushfire Relief Fundraiser – The Victory Hotel, Brisbane City
On Thursday January 9, Venus Envy will be donating $20 for every music request made to the Vinnies Bushfire Appeal. Request your favourite pub tune and help raise some much needed money for all those affected by the bushfires.

Boiling Point – Bushfire Crisis Fundraiser ExhibitionThe Third Quarter, Petrie Terrace
The Third Quarter is holding an art exhibition on Friday January 24, with sales of all artworks helping to raise funds for state based brigades, food banks and animal rescue. Co-curated by Chris Macpherson, the exhibition will feature artwork donations from local, interstate and international artists including Fred Valentine, Jarred Wright, LL Cool Glaze, Genkstasy, Yes Joy and Kaomoji Ceramics.

SAVE Australia – Fire Relief Fundraiser ExhibitionHellbound, New Farm
Pastel Pixie and Hellbound are teaming up to put together a collective of artists to raise funds for the bushfire relief. On Friday January 31, the cash-only exhibition will showcase original art and prints, with 50 percent of profits going towards WIRES Wildlife Rescue and the other 50 percent being shared with the Bendigo Bank Bushfire Appeal.

Bullseye for the BushOche, Fortitude Valley
On Saturday January 18, Oche Fortitude Valley is donating 100 percent of profits from the day’s trade to bushfire relief. There will be also be karma kegs from Stone and Wood Brewing and ASAHI’s Two Suns Lageras. Plus, for every bullseye hit, Oche and partners will donate $100.00!

Bushfire Relief Fundraiser – Howard Smith Wharves, Brisbane City
In February, Howard Smith Wharves will be hosting a fundraising event for the emergency service heroes who are battling the bushfires. There will be live entertainment, Felons Brewing Co’s Fire Truck pouring Natural Ale and a range of food options. Stay tuned, more details will be released closer to the date.

Bushfire Benefit DinnerLightspace, Fortitude Valley
On Friday January 31, Lightspace is hosting an evening of fine food, wine and entertainment to raise money for the Rural Fire Service and Wires Wildlife Rescue. The menu is thoughtfully created and prepared by chef Alastair McLeod of AlFreshCo Catering and there will be a raffle of fantastic foodie prizes on the night. Secure your spot here.

Ltd. Edition: A Fashion Fun-raiserThe Station, Fortitude Valley
Brisbane’s style-savvy fashion community have raided their wardrobes for Brisbane’s ultimate high-end, new and pre-loved fashion event for a good cause. Head to The Station on Sunday January 19 to check out racks chock-full of designer brands including CELINE, Gucci, Scanlan Theodore, Off White, Balenciaga, Golden Goose and Karen Walker. There will also be a very special live show from local Brissy band The Cairos with special guest Clea. With all proceeds being donated to communities affected by the recent bushfires, get ready to open your wallets (and your wardrobe)!

Yoga + Beer for the Bushfire AppealXXXX Brewing, Milton
Roll out a yoga mat and join XXXX Brewing for its very special Yoga + Beer for the Bushfire Appeal event on Saturday January 18. An unlikely combination, but one that will have you getting bendy in an hour-long yoga flow then enjoying a cold one provided by XXXX Brewery to help raise some money for the Australian Red Cross Bushfire Appeal. All levels of yoga experience are welcome.

Ducks Fly Together – Bushfire Fundraiser – Black Bear Lodge, Fortitude Valley
On Sunday January 19, make way to Brunswick Street for a night of live music from local legends CONCRETE SURFERS and Perve Endings. Entry is only $5, with all proceeds from tickets and bar sales going towards Red Cross Disaster Relief.
