Luke McGregor’s Almost Fixed It – March 9–11
In some small way or another, we are all Luke McGregor. This loveable redhead has weaselled his way into the affections of the Australian public with his irresistible brand of honest, self-deprecating humour. Fans of the ABC will no doubt recognise him from his own uncomfortably illuminating documentary series Luke Warm Sex, as well as the collaborative effort Rosehaven which he created with real-life best mate and fellow funny bugger Celia Pacquola. Almost Fixed It will have you rooting for Luke to sort his life out, in between mopping up tears of laughter.
Joel Creasy’s Poser – Sunday March 12 and Thursday March 23
If you’ve been near a TV at some point in the past year, odds are you would be familiar with a dude named Joel Creasey – his pretty little face has popped up everywhere from comedy galas, panel shows, celebrity interviews and even the depths of the African jungle. His show Poser hits the Powerhouse after the raging success of 2016’s effort The Crown Prince, continuing his trademark themes of scathing wit and immeasurable sass.
Mel Buttle’s I Can’t Believe It’s Not Buttle – March 14–19
Mel Buttle is a bona fide Brisbane Comedy Festival veteran – this River City native has performed at every single BCF since its inception, holding it down as a shining example that Brisbane does it best. As an expert on bird impressions and baked goods, Mel’s latest show is dripping with sarcasm, self-deprecation and genuine vulnerability – the perfect recipe for a killer set.
Queensland Born and Bread – March 16–19
Being the first person in your social circle to unearth something cool is always a bit of a thrill. Queensland Born and Bread is a prime opportunity to get a leg up on your mates, when some of the state’s best homegrown comedians that you’ve never heard of take to the stage to bring the ruckus. Pretty much the only thing that the starring line-up has in common is that each performer is from Queensland and each is gifted at tickling funny bones. Catch Danielle Walker, Tim Hewitt, Joe Shaffer, Dan Rath and Cameron Duggan doing the damn thing for your pleasure and edification.
