Spring sees Brisbane bloom with a number of exciting events popping up all over the city. So you can streamline the new season celebrations, we have picked out some of the top events worth checking out from September to November. From month-long culture festivals to musical-filled picnics in the park, outdoor cinemas and world-exclusive exhibitions, there’s plenty to dive into this spring.


Blooms & Tunes, Roma Street Parkland: Taking place every Saturday and Sunday in September from 1:00–4:00 pm within Roma Street Parkland, Blooms & Tunes promises a relaxed afternoon of live jazz and blues matched with delicious picnic bites. The parkland’s leafy eatery, The Garden Room will be curating jam-packed picnic hampers, which can be matched with a BYO tipple of choice. If you want to take your afternoon in the sun to the next level, book a VIP picnic space with your hamper to nab the best spot on the lawn. The Motorcycle: Design, Art, Desire, QAGOMA: Channel your inner Easy Rider and head into GOMA to check out its newest blockbuster exhibition, The Motorcycle: Design, Art, Desire when it zooms into Brisbane on Saturday November 28. The world-exclusive exhibition shines the spotlight on the uber-cool and iconic mode of transportation and will feature more than 100 of the most innovative and influential motorcycles created over the last 150 years. The exhibition will also showcase off-road motorcycles for the dirt-bike fanatics, customised motorcycles that will catch the eye of art lovers and ultra-modern electric motorcycles that utilise renewable energy. Keen to jump on for a ride? Disney+ Open Air Cinema, Hamilton: Say hello to Disney+ Drive-In, where the magic of all your favourite films comes to life on the big screen at the Northshore Riverfront Event Space in Hamilton. This spring – from Thursday September 17 to Sunday October 18 – spend the evening with your favourite characters from Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and more, all from the comfort of your car. Rom Coms & Nom Noms, Brisbane City: Enjoy mid-week movies and mouth-watering bites at Brisbane City’s free pop-up cinema and pop-up bar, Rom Coms & Nom Noms! The inner-city green space of Post Office Square will be host to a line-up of popular romantic comedies –including 50 First Dates, My Best Friend’s WeddingSo I Married an Axe Murderer and You’ve Got Mail – every Wednesday night of September and October, with a pop-up bar catered by Isles Lane. You can purchase delicious grazing boxes from Isles Lane and treat yourself to a tipple from the bar – there will be a mix of wine (white, red, sparkling and rosé), beer and soft drinks to choose from. Brisbane Festival, various locationsBrisbane Festival is back from September 4–26 with an exciting 2020 program full of music, art and just a little bit of naughtiness. This year’s Brisbane Festival will showcase a whopping 490 performances across 91 events including giant art installations (Messengers of Brisbane), intimate street concerts (Street Serenades), circus antics (Leviathanand a huge laser light show (Sunsuper Night Sky). Noosa Open Studios, Noosa: Want to experience something truly special this spring? Take a road trip from Brisbane to Noosa for the Noosa Open Studios, an annual art trail where gifted local artists open the doors to their studios and display their work in a more intimate setting than usual. Running from October 9–18, this art trail lets you delve into artists’ creative processes, see work that might not ordinarily be on display and gives you the chance to invest in a piece for your home. BrewDog, Murrarie: BrewDog’s Australian HQ in Murrarie has plenty of fun things happening to help put a spring in your step. Every Thursday, you can round up the pack and throw a party for your four-legged friend! Guests can reserve a space to enjoy BrewDog’s beers, and for $10 per dog, the canine contingent will be provided with a specially made pup-safe doggy beer, a Subwoofer IPA, as well as a dog-safe pupcake. If you want a behind-the-scenes look into the brewery, you can also join the team on a 30-minute tour of BrewDog’s newest production facility for just $15. Want to become a beer expert?
