Pop on your best band shirt and maybe a jumper too – Brisbane Winter Sessions is set to supply six days of stellar entertainment with help from a kick-ass line-up of homegrown artists from August 5–11. The inaugural festival, which is supported by Brisbane City Council and produced by QMusic, is celebrating the city’s phenomenal (and resilient) live-music industry. Over six days and nights, the festival will be spread across some of the city’s most impressive venues including The Zoo, Fortitude Music Hall, Ric’s Backyard, The Triffid and The Brightside. Some electrifying acts that will be taking the stage include hip-hop group No Money Enterprise, metal band Thy Art Is Murder, ex-Powderfinger musician Ian Haug and ex-Regurgitator artist Ben Ely as well as singer-songwriter Miiesha, rockers Bad//Dreems, punk-rock outfit Trophy Eyes, indie rockers Last Dinosaurs, plus many more.
There will be 30 ticketed and free (yes, free!) events to check out across the week with some truly special experiences on the cards. Dance the night away at The Fortitude Music Hall, which will transform into a 360-degree experience accommodating 1000 festival-goers for an evening of beats from No Money Enterprise, Thy Art is Murder and Nina Las Vegas or tune in to some classics at the Ritchie Yorke All Star Gig at The Prince Consort featuring Tyron Noonan, Ian Haug and Nik Phillips. Other not-to-be-missed happenings include Drag Night at The Zoo, The Triffid’s annual Brisbane Burger Fest taking over Stratton Street, and free live shows at Felons Barrel Hall with Miiesha, Sweater Curse, RVG, A. Swayze, Girl and Ghosts.
