People power – Circa takes it to the physical limit with Humans

For us laypeople, it’s not uncommon to see circus performers doing their thing and immediately think it’s some kind of witchcraft. Just how the heck do these people move the way that they do? While it may not be entirely natural to most, it is indeed possible. Us human beings are capable of all sorts of amazing feats when set with a challenge of seeing how far we can go, and one ensemble that proves this is Circa. Tumbling into QPAC from December 6–9, Circa’s Humans is a heart-stopping display of pure physical prowess that shows us just how far our species can push our bodies.

Created by Artistic Director Yaron Lifschitz and the ridiculously talented Circa ensemble, Humans will see 10 acrobats take to the stage in a display of what it truly means to be human, by pushing the physical boundaries of what we previously thought possible. Using a captivating combination of aerial trapeze, acrobatics, contortionism, impossible shapes and more, Humans challenges audiences to reflect on what it truly means to live – the perils of the human condition. The critically acclaimed production has already been performed in five different countries, with sold-out seasons in Italy, Belgium and Romania complemented by huge crowds at the legendary Glastonbury Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Circa’s Humans marks an exciting point in the trailblazing circus company’s relationship with QPAC. This production is the first in a three-year partnership between the two arts powerhouses. As part of the partnership, QPAC and Circa will co-present a performance in the Playhouse each year for three years, with this stunning production kicking things off in true world-class fashion. The partnership is a perfect fit, with Circa’s growth into a global phenomenon aligning brilliantly with QPAC’s ever-evolving international offering.

Ready for some jaw-dropping acts of people power? You can grab tickets to Humans by Circa through QPAC.
