Dmitry Sinkovsky: The Singing Violin marks the critically acclaimed virtuoso’s first-ever Brisbane appearance, as he also makes his way to Sydney and Melbourne with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra. The stunning concert will include Italian, German and French music by baroque masters Vivaldi, Locatelli, Telemann, Leclair and Aubert, with Dmitry featuring as a soloist on his baroque violin. Another magical aspect of the concert is the instrument – Dmitry will perform on an exquisite Francesco Ruggeri violin made in Cremona in 1675, a truly precious period instrument crafted by the old masters in the trade.

Dmitry carved his path as a star student at the iconic Moscow Conservatory where Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich once taught and Rachmaninoff studied, so you can see that he’s been steeped in a rich history. Initially groomed for an international career on modern violin, he changed focus in 2005 and pursued specialised early music training in Moscow, Montreal and Holland. These days he is a highly regarded laureate in a number of European violin competitions (including first, audience and critic’s prizes in the coveted Musica Antiqua competition in Bruges). His musical talents and unique charisma have ensured that he is kept in high demand not only as a soloist but also as a director.
