English Baroque with Circa is the latest daring outfit from the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and Circa, combining the expertise of each organisation to create a brand-new fusion of creativity. The unbeatable team of Artistic Directors Paul Dyer and Yaron Lifschitz (from Brandenburg and Circa respectively) have created an inspired pasticcio with music carefully selected from 16th and 17th century England. Add the unbelievable voice of soprano Jane Sheldon, the incomparable moves of the Circa troupe and the seamless precision of the Brandenburg, and the result is pure perfection.
As previously touched on, English Baroque with Circa certainly isn’t the first time that the Brandenburg and Circa have linked up. Back in 2015, audiences were seduced by the heavenly French Baroque, which combined beauty and elegance to create a truly stunning work – not to mention the show also picked up a Helpmann Award. Fast-forward to 2017 and the duo struck gold again with Spanish Baroque, a fiery and high-intensity show that garnered sell-out performances across its season. If this previous output is anything to go by, this is one show you won’t want to sleep on.
