Count me (g)in – sip on summer botanicals at 2023’s Ginuary Festival

When it comes to cooling down and chilling out in Brisbane’s scorching summer heat, few things hit the spot quite like a damn-fine gin. If you have a soft spot for this delicious spirit, we have an event that’s sure to make your mouth water – Ginuary Festival is hitting Howard Smith Wharves on Sunday January 22 and is bringing with it a stellar selection of sips and bites dedicated to everyone’s favourite botanical beverage.

To quote rock band Staind, ‘it’s been a while’ since we have enjoyed a proper Ginuary Festival, with Covid and floods putting a damper on the last couple of editions. In 2023, the spirited soiree is back and bigger than ever, taking over the Rivershed and the Green House at Howard Smith Wharves for a gin-filled Sunday session in celebration of its fifth anniversary. Once again, the folks behind Ginuary Festival have teamed up with Long Rays, Covent Garden and a selection of top-notch Australian distillers to showcase the best of the country’s gin industry.

Come January 22, Howard Smith Wharves will be fitted with a dedicated Gin Alley featuring ten different degustation stations, offering free gin tastings and a chance to buy limited-edition gins. Plus, there will be a very-special Gin House, where 100 taste bud-tantalising gins from Covent Garden will be awaiting your tasting cup. It wouldn’t be Ginuary without the annual HOTTEST 100 AUSSIE GINS countdown (you can put in your vote now!), with the winner revealed on the day. Free-flowing canapes will be available throughout the event too, because we all know drinking on an empty stomach is just downright irresponsible.

Feeling ginspired? You can nab your early-bird tickets to Ginuary through Eventbrite.
