The GOMA Turns 10 Summer Festival is the latest treat in a smorgasbord of festivities for the Gallery’s tenth birthday – it joins major exhibitions and parties in a line-up of free entertainment that the gallery has organised to help the public get in on the fun of this major milestone. The festival is running for five days and will feature stacks of creative workshops, storytelling, film, talks and live music. GOMA Ambassadors Benjamin Law, Patience Hodgson and Alison Kubler will be running tours of the Gallery, and there is a bunch of family-friendly workshops by artists such as Pip & Pop, Anne Wallace and Gordon Hookey. One absolute must-see is the Sunday performance of Nick Cave’s eye-popping HEARD·Brisbane 2016 – trust us when we say it’s unmissable.

As if the festival itself wasn’t enough, GOMA is running a couple of its killer up-late sessions to extend the good vibes from day to night. Set over two nights, these all-ages shows feature live performances from both iconic and up-and-coming Brisbane bands. Some of the folks making an appearance include Regurgitator, Cub Sport, The Grates and I Heart Hiroshima just to name a few. As well as the tunes, lucky punters can explore more than 300 artworks on display at GOMA after hours, gain insights through lively talks and tours and get creative in a drop-in speed-drawing workshop.
