Get lost in this mind-boggling maze near Stanthorpe

Lots of wine, the chance of snow and picturesque landscapes – the Granite Belt region is the perfect winter weekend getaway. Well, eager travellers, we've discovered another reason to venture to the breathtaking country haven, and it's one that will have you getting a little lost (in a good way). Say hello to the Granite Belt Maze.

A two-and-a-half-hour roadtrip away from Brisbane, the Granite Belt Maze in Glen Niven (just north of the occasionally snowy Stanthorpe) is one family-friendly activity to tick off the old bucket list. The object of this mind-bending maze is to make you search from side-to-side and end-to-end looking for clues, so you can solve your riddle. Of course, there are plenty of dead ends as well as twists and turns designed to fool you and your fellow maze runners. The riddles are even chopped and changed each month so that return visitors are put up to a new challenge every time they have a go at the course.

Once you escape the 2.5 kilometre-long labyrinth, you can putt your way through mini-golf or sit down with a celebratory hot dog from the kiosk. There’s even lush gardens to traverse through if you’re still keen on upping your steps for the day. The Granite Belt Maze is open every day apart from Tuesdays and Wednesdays (unless it’s school holidays) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission to this out-of-this-world activity is $56 for a family of four, or $18 per adult and $13 children. Well worth the hours of entertainment, we think.
