A backstage pass to Brisbane’s best beatmakers – don’t miss out on tuning into High Rotation

Whether you rocked Bernard's signature floppy hairstyle, you grew up listening to tunes from Regurgitator and Savage Garden or you're Thelma Plum's biggest fan, there's something for every local music devotee at Museum of Brisbane's nostalgia-fuelled exhibition, High Rotation. If you're yet to drop in, the exhibition has a few special events left for visitors to gain an exclusive insight into Brisbane's music scene, transporting them from underground Valley gigs to national and international stages.

Arguably the most integral element of Brisbane’s cultural backbone, the city’s music scene is made up of homegrown heavyweights with a localised approach to music making, with styles ranging from pop, rock, folk and everything in between. Museum of Brisbane’s crowd rousing exhibition, High Rotation offers exclusive VIP access behind the scenes of 30 years’ worth of Brisbane’s beats through film, photography, artwork, memorabilia, instruments, souvenirs and editorial that will strike a chord with music aficionados, whether they are Brissy-born or adopted.

There are plenty of reasons to check out this exhibition if you haven’t been and even more if you’re looking to go back for seconds, with more than 80 artists soundtracking the exhibition, including Powderfinger, The Veronicas, The Grates, Custard, Kate Miller-Heidke, Sheppard, George, Violent Soho, Savage Garden, Confidence Man, WAAX, Dubmarine and Ball Park Music. To please the particularly curious, there are Exhibition Tours every Wednesday until April 15, which promise an inside look at how local bands and esteemed musicians have elevated Brisbane’s reputation for producing meaningful music. Discover the tales behind many of Brisbane’s musical milestones by joining an Insider’s Tour, hosted by artist managers, journalists and industry gurus. The final insider tour is being held on Saturday March 7 when Sean Sennett (Time Off) takes over the historian reigns.

Be quick, this time capsule full of musical treasures won’t stay open forever – High Rotation will dazzle music lovers until April 19. Nab yourself a ticket here.
