Weekend plans, sorted – homegrown musicians are banding together for live-streamed music festival Isol-Aid

UPDATE Tuesday March 24: Following a successful first weekend of live-streamed tunes from some of our favourite homegrown musos, Isol-aid is back this Saturday March 28 with the likes of Jen Cloher, EGOISM, Loose Toot and Emily Wurramara all making an appearance. Follow the Isol-aid Facebook page for up-to-date info on performing artists and set times. With the COVID-19 pandemic cancelling a bunch of concerts and putting live gigs on ice for the foreseeable future, artists and the music industry as a whole have been left to pick up the pieces. Embodying the typical Aussie spirit of helping each other out in tough times, some of your favourite local artists are coming together to live stream gigs straight to your lounge room for Isol-Aid, a two-day Instagram Live musical festival. If you plan to stay in this weekend you're in for a treat, as Isol-Aid will be taking over some of your favourite local artist's Instagrams from 12:00 pm to 12:00 am on Saturday March 21 and Sunday March 22.

The fundraising event features a jam-packed roster of 72 musical artists including Stella Donnelly, Julia Jacklin, Didirri, Ainslie Wills, Angie McMahon and Romy Vager of RVG. This talented crew will be performing to help raise funds for the Australian music industry, which as of today has lost over $250 million due to cancelled events and the ripple effects of COVID-19. Making our weekend look incredibly more bright, music lovers will be treated to a 20-minute set from the involved artists, recorded from their homes and streamed live on their Instagram accounts. In a musical relay of sorts, the musos will then pass the mic to the next act in the line-up.

If they can, viewers are encouraged to buy music and merch from the artists, as well as donate to a fundraiser set up for Support Act, an organisation that provides relief services for artists, crew and music workers that are facing mental health issues or financial hardship. To tune in to the two-day festival, check out the set times here.
