Pack your bags – urban vacation James Street RESORT celebrates the iconic precinct

Everyone loves a little holiday, and sometimes the best destinations for an escape are right under our nose. One event that personifies the spirit of vacation is James Street RESORT, the annual two-day soiree that celebrates the best of the beloved precinct whilst also treating Brisbane’s residents to a heady dose of culture. Running from October 11–12, this year’s RESORT is happening in conjunction with the opening of a bona fide holiday destination – the brand-new Calile Hotel.

Coming into its fifth year, James Street RESORT is gearing up for its most exciting and jam-packed program yet. Day one kicks things off at The Calile with Trailblazers being the first cab off the rank – helmed by Vogue Australia’s Zara Wong, the intimate forum brings together designers Dion Leebassike duo Deborah Sams and Mary Lou Ryan and Louise Olsen of Dinosaur Designs to discuss all things fashion and design. The day continues with a Long Lunch, where diners can feast on three courses prepared by the Calile Hotel and Lobby Bar whilst rubbing shoulders with the forum’s brilliant minds. Cap it all off at the inimitable RESORT After Dark, presented for the very first time by Vogue Australia – starlit soiree and late-night shopping, anyone?

RESORT’s second day goes out with a bang, with a standout event being Checking In: The Future of Luxury Travel. You can learn all about the topic from David Prior (the co-founder of PRIOR), Halcyon House mastermind Siobhan Bickle and The Calile architects, Adrian Spence and Ingrid Richards – all over a mouth-watering luncheon, of course. Libations and snacks will abound – because being on holiday is all about treating yourself, right? Refuel in between shopping sprees at the Messina pop-up gelato bar, or treat yourself to some bespoke tipples from some of the strip’s best bars when Resort Sundowners kicks into action.

To plan your ultimate RESORT itinerary, head to the official James Street website to check all of the amazing things on offer.
