Immerse yourself in two stellar stage productions at Metro Arts this July

We've now entered the second half of 2022, but that doesn't mean Brisbane's exciting calendar of events is showing any signs of slowing down. Metro Arts' upcoming production roster is a harbinger of the second coming of dynamite performances set to hit our city, with two exhilarating shows arriving at the New Benner Theatre this July.

We all know that Metro Arts is the place to get your dose of thought-provoking theatre, but its upcoming shows further prove this point. This month’s offering kicks off with Our Blood Runs In The Street (July 13–16), headed up by co-creator and director Shane Anthony. This important live performance explores New South Wales’ history of violence and persecution against LGBTQI+ Australians. This talented ensemble will combine the words of victims’ family members, witnesses, historians, police officers, journalists and researchers with physical theatre to create a powerful production that explores cultural prejudice and bias against gay and transgender people.

Next up on the entertainment line-up is Sunny Tribe District (July 22–30), a heart-warming show that balances comedy with catharsis. This laugh-filled production from theatre collective Robert The Cat and writer/director Patrick Mu’a follows the story of a group of camp counsellors who have dedicated their lives to bringing sad people back to their happy selves. Their methods may be questionable, but they have the right intentions. Gather your friends and strap in for the trip of a lifetime. Just don’t forget the mozzie spray.

Eager to transport yourself to a world of immersive theatre? Head to the Metro Arts website to grab your tickets and prepare to be dazzled.
