Set in the bustling streets of Bangkok, Neon Tiger is a modern-day love story laced with humour, music and just the right amount of whimsy. The production tells the story of Andy, an Australian-born traveller who sees a jaunt overseas as the perfect remedy for a broken heart. She takes a job as a host in a bustling karaoke party bar, where she meets the intriguing Arisa – a Thai-American seeking to connect with her mother’s culture. The two meet, and the chemistry is undeniable – and what follows is a tender love story with sass, smarts and some toe-tapping songs to boot.
The impressive pedigree behind Neon Tiger is a clear indication that the production will be a total winner. A dream team of three of Australia’s most exciting theatre talents have come on board to bring the story to life – playwright Julia-Rose Lewis (Samson, This Feral Life), musical comedian Gillian Cosgriff (Tonightly, Vivid White), and director Kat Henry (Wind and The Willows, Constellations). The trio has partnered with cultural icons La Boite Theatre and Brisbane Powerhouse, nabbing a cast including TV’s Lisa Hanley and Single Asian Female’s Courtney Stewart. This colourful, powerful and downright talented female ensemble is just the right crew to bring La Boite’s sterling 2018 season to a close.
