Live tunes and flavoursome fare – celebrate New Year’s Eve in style at Portside Wharf

As the humid weather and constant soundtrack of carols signifies, Christmas is creeping closer. When Santa has been and gone, it's time to pop some bottles, put on your boogie shoes and celebrate New Year's Eve. So you can salute the new year with top-tier eats, sparkling sips and some stellar live entertainment, Portside Wharf has got a solid line-up of events happening around the riverside precinct. Think world-class Italian feasts, cocktail-filled soirees and live singers under the stars ...

If there’s one way to see out the year in style, it’s by the river at Portside Wharf with a champagne in hand. Lovers of Italian cuisine can farewell 2021 at Gusto da Gianni, where there will be a four-course dinner full of traditional delicacies for merrymakers to indulge in. Think yellow-tail kingfish and Pacific oysters with mignonette to start, squid-ink spaghetti with Queensland sand crab, ’nduja and bottarga to fill your belly, and torta di zucca (pumpkin pie) served with amaretto ice-cream and caramel sauce for dessert. To get a taste of the Mediterranean, head to Byblos Bar and count down until midnight with a five-hour tipples and tapas package that’s sure to get the party started. You can wet your whistle with a huge selection of Chandon, spirits, cocktails, wine and beer, whilst you graze on delicious canapes and a food station featuring all of the Byblos favourites. For those who plan to dance into the new year, there will even be a DJ on the decks spinning your favourite tunes.

If that’s not enough culinary goodness to transport you into 2022 full and in good spirits, you can pop in to @Mr & Mrs Jones for a quick bite whilst the sun sets or stroll in later to enjoy drinks and nibbles until the clock strikes midnight. Belvedere Bar and Grill and Sono Japanese Restaurant are also taking reservations for New Year’s Eve dinner – we suggest booking in now before all of the tables are snapped up! Those who have party plans elsewhere can fuel up with delicious eats from AamayaBamboo BasketBurrito Bar and Ginga. Revellers staying on for a boogie will be treated to four-piece band Midnight Groove, which is set to perform a sizzling set of crowd-favourite beats from 7:30 pm until late – this is your reminder to wear your dancing shoes.
