Noods by night – Brisbane Night Noodle Markets presented by Citi set to return this June

It's been a few years between serves of bao, chargrilled chicken skewers, flying noodles and twisted potatoes, but after a pandemic-induced hiatus it seems like the Night Noodle Markets is finally making its return to Brisbane. For 12 nights from Wednesday June 15 until Sunday June 26, the City Botanic Gardens will be filled with the seductive smells of street food from some of the country's most beloved vendors.

We don’t know about you, but we’ve been having recurring dreams of piping-hot dumplings, saucy noodles and drool-worthy desserts. Either we’ve finally figured out how to manifest or we’re psychic, because our dreams of hawker-style street eats will soon materialise with the long-awaited return of the Brisbane Night Noodle Markets presented by Citi. The last time the Night Noodle Markets made their way to Brisbane, it was 2019 and the words ‘pandemic’, ‘COVID’, ‘lockdown’ and ‘isolation’ weren’t yet embedded in our regular vernacular. The 2022 iteration is looking to make up for lost time, with 12 days of feasting on the cards. The Brisbane Night Noodle Markets will also boast a new home this year, leaping across the river to transform the City Botanic Gardens into a giant open-air Asian street-food hub.

This year’s collection of vendors will feature a mixture of local and interstate identities – some of which will be familiar to those that make a visit to the market a yearly must. Expect to see headliners Hoy Pinoy, Flying Noodles, May’s Malaysian Hawker, Wonderbao and Twistto this year. We can also confirm that guests will be able to savour Demochi Donut‘s made-for-Instagram treats, north-Vietnamese cuisine from Pho-Real Vietnamese, dumplings and dim sum from Steamed, vegetarian and vegan dishes from West Australia’s Latina Plant Power, Indian-Nonya-inspired dishes from Brisbane’s own Stone & Copper, roti rolls from Roll Up, calamari on a stick from Calabang, and flavoursome fare from Shallot Thai, Bangkok Street Food and RaijinGelato Messina will also be on hand, serving up decadent desserts like its deep-fried Milo gelato and dulce de leche with peanut butter French toast.

Impatient foodies will be psyched to hear that the festival has partnered with Mr Yum to add QR ordering and payment, with SMS alerts allowing punters to skip the line once their order is ready. In addition to the sizzling, spicy and smoky morsels, this year’s market will also feature a beer garden from Gage Roads, an Aperol Spritz Kombi Bar, and Dan Murphy’s Zero% Bar which will specialise in super-refreshing non-alcoholic cocktails. Rounding out the offering will be live entertainment and lion dancers, plus a ‘pets-welcome policy’ means your furry friend can come along.

Brisbane Night Noodle Markets presented by Citi will be taking place at the City Botanic Gardens from Wednesday June 15 to Sunday June 26. Stay tuned for more information on featured stallholders!
