Sun, surf and cinema – the Noosa International Film Festival brings a wave of talent to the coast

When it comes to the Sunshine Coast, movies probably aren’t the first thing that comes to mind – try beaches, bushwalks and laid-back vibes. It turns out that film culture is alive and well on the coast, as a thriving community event returns for its third outing to celebrate the region’s love of all things to do with the big screen. Running across multiple venues from October 25–28, the Noosa International Film Festival is a jewel in the crown of the Sunshine Coast’s cultural calendar bringing cinematic gold from all around the world.

The Noosa International Film Festival is coming in hot this year with some seriously slick features and even some Queensland premieres. The shaggy and dark comedy Book Week will be making its debut in the state after its triumphant premiere at Melbourne International Film Festival, while the much talked-about TERROR NULLIUS will be screening with an accompanying Q&A panel moderated by Amanda Slack-Smith and featuring John Seale and Heath Davis. Award-nominated film editor Jill Bilcock’s latest feature Dancing the Invisible will also be screened followed by an in-conversation appearance with the woman herself about her amazing career in the industry.

The Noosa International Film Festival has once again curated an amazing program packed with highlights, including some special events that you simply should not miss. As well as a number of feature-length offerings, NIFF also has a stunning short film program filled with bite-sized entertainment. The short film component of the festival features amazing Australian and international works from more than 20 countries – from jaw-dropping true stories to thrills and chills, a whole range of genres are explored.

Want to ride the culture wave? You can check out the full Noosa International Film Festival program and grab tickets through the official website.
