Slap on some sunscreen, grab your togs and stretch out those legs – Noosa Summer Swim is taking to the open ocean this weekend from Saturday February 1 to Sunday 2. The weekend-long festival takes over Noosa's Main Beach, offering distances for every ability, from junior events to the 5-km Noosa Grand Prix where seasoned swimmers can push their limits alongside Australian swimming champs. To quote a wise yet forgetful fish, "just keep swimming".

If chlorine is your cologne and salt water your hairspray, get ready for the perfect summer weekend combo of surf, sun and sea in the form of Noosa Summer Swim. A bucket-list event for both tadpoles and full-grown front crawlers to get their share of good ol’ H20, the event promises two huge days of swimming. Saturday kicks off with Noosa 3.0, a perfect long distance challenge for you to push your limits. If you really want to make a marathon effort, swim alongside current Australian representative swimmers for the creme-da-la-creme event of the weekend – the Noosa 2.0 – is the most popular event on the program, with the course taking you out and back from Noosa Main Beach towards the Noosa National Park. Saturday also has the Noosa 1.0 short course, where swimmers of all abilities can slow-stroke through Noosa waters as an ideal segue to conquer a first open-water event. The groms can take on the Junior Giants challenges, with a 300-metre Junior Dash for the eight to 16 year olds and a 1-km Junior Long Course for the ten to 16 year olds.

Don’t hold your breath quite yet, as Sunday is also jam-packed with events for the keen freestyler. There’s the 5-km Noosa Grand Prix – a marathon distance swim contested by some homegrown ocean addicts, as well as a few international guests. The multi-lap course around Noosa Main Beach is the perfect opportunity to push your limits beyond the typical open-water distances. After a more leisurely couple of laps? There will also be a 1.5-km Social Swim – a ‘hot lap’ of the Grand Prix course, if you will.

There’s a heap of prizes up for grabs, so dive and dash like you’re in it to win it! Head on over to the World Series Swims website to check out the full program of events.
