Cool, kind and creative – Recreate celebrates sustainable style with its paper fashion show

In a time when the planet's future is growing increasingly uncertain, caring about the environment is more important than ever. More events are popping up that actively encourage us to embrace a more clean and green lifestyle by making better choices in our everyday life. Turns out that it's actually cool to be kind – who knew? Fusing pure innovation with an eco-conscious twist, the Recreate Twilight Market and Paper Fashion Show is taking over King George Square on Friday November 10 to prove that sustainability and style are a winning combination.

Running in conjunction with National Recycling Week, Brisbane City Council conceptualised the Recreate Twilight Market and Paper Fashion Show as a fun way to both promote and celebrate the sustainable culture that our city is so well known for. The market component of Recreate is curated by the BrisStyle team and focuses heavily on the local and handmade aspects of market culture, creating an environment that educates people on how to make more ethical choices without skipping out on quality or style. There will also be delicious eats from some of Brisbane’s favourite food trucks along with free paper-craft activities to take it to the next level.

This year’s crop of amazing Recreate designers ranges from celebrated fashion industry veterans to newer names in the scene, each tasked with creating a one-off runway look made entirely from paper. Amongst the great mixture of talent on offer is indie collective and design studio The New Garde, bamboo-based fashionistas The Great Beyond, eco-conscious babes sticks + stone, emerging bridal wizard Lydia James and futurist extraordinaire Jonathan Pampling. These collectives and designers have been hard at work handcrafting their paper creations ready for the runway.

Recreate is totally free to attend – come along and see what the future of fashion looks like.
