It’s cool to be kind – embrace the world of sustainable fashion at Revive

It’s no secret that vintage and second-hand shopping has had something of a boom lately. When you break it down, it’s not hard to see why it’s taken off – it’s way better for the environment, it’s friendly on the wallet and you can nab some totally unique pieces that nobody else has! Whether you’re a thrifting veteran or new to the pre-loved fashion game, the Revive Pop-Up Second-Hand Fashion Festival has got your back. Taking over South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt on Friday August 17, this event is here to give you the inside scoop on making your fashion game more sustainable.

After two super-successful years, Brisbane City Council is bringing Revive back to show us all how to live a little more kind and conscious – and it doesn’t hurt our reputation as a clean, green and sustainable city either! This one-day community event sees South Bank turn into the thrifting goldmine of your dreams, packing out South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt with pre-loved fashion vendors from all around Brisbane. Charities like RSPCA Queensland Op Shops, YMCA, Link Vision, Vinnies, Endeavour Foundation, Save the Children, Salvos Store, Lifeline and Asthma Op Shops will be joined by indie retailers Forgotten Modern, Fetch Vintage, East of Grey, Vintage Junkyard, Second Loves and Cassie’s Corner to make up the impressive market selection.

Revive isn’t just a chance to shop up an ethical storm – you can also learn a whole heap about growing your sustainable wardrobe moving forward. The speaker’s marquee provides a chilled place to hang out and listen to experts in the industry chat about heaps of topics – think slow clothing, how to op-shop like a pro, closing the loop on your wardrobe and loads more. You can also learn some hands-on skills at the workshops – East of Grey is manning a mending station, Boomerang Bags can teach you how to turn a tee into a tote, and QUT Fashion Design students are doing a showcase on distressed denim. Add in runway shows, live entertainment and food trucks and you’ve got yourself one heck of a time!

If your wardrobe could use a little more kindness, head along to Revive at South Bank on Friday August 17.
