The round-up: Where to eat, drink and get the best view for this year’s Riverfire

With September on the horizon, so too is the arrival of Brisbane Festival. The month will serve up a bevy of theatre, music and art and will kick off with Brisbane’s biggest party – Riverfire by Australian Retirement Trust. The annual pyrotechnics showcase will light up the city's sky once again on Saturday September 2, and the banks of the Brisbane River will be lined with revellers keen to see the fireworks displays and aerial antics. If you’re searching for the perfect vantage point to take in the display and fill your rumbling belly at the same time, we've rounded up some of our top picks ...


Opa Bar & Mezze, Brisbane City: If there’s anything that beats a Santorini sunset, it’s Riverfire’s fireworks display. You can enjoy the spectacle from Opa Bar & Mezze while enjoying a special banquet filled with Greek delights. Pop in for the first sitting (5:00–7:00 pm) and devour the likes of fetta saganaki, whole lamb shoulder, chargrilled octopus and flash-fried calamari – all for $150 per person. Massimo Restaurant & Bar, Brisbane City: Nab some front-row seats to Riverfire’s fireworks display at Massimo and enjoy an Italian feast as the night comes alive. Those enjoying a early sitting between 5:00–7:00 pm will be able to enjoy a $125 per person banquet boasting sand crab cavatelli, cured salmon and pollo alla diavola. Madame Wu, Brisbane City: Riverside stalwart Madame Wu is pulling out all of the stops for its 2023 Riverfire celebrations. Revellers can come and enjoy a four-hour drinks package from 5:00–9:00pm, including beer, wine, spirits and a selection of cocktails. Canape-style food will be available throughout the evening, with entertainment keeping guests entertained after the fireworks have finished. Secure your spot via Madame Wu’s website.

Riverland, Brisbane City: Riverfire is best enjoyed as close to the river as you can get, and you can’t get much closer than Riverland. Opt for the $149 standard package and you can still watch all of the action from one of the best vantage points on the Brisbane River while enjoying a two-hour offering of roaming canapes and bountiful bites. Or, for $189 per person, you can snag a two-hour premium package and access to the Sky Deck with the best views of the firework display. If you want to go all out, the $199 deluxe package will gain you access to the Promenade, a private bar, two hours of deluxe canapes and many more palate-pleasing bites. Fridays, Brisbane City: Lively locale Fridays is lighting up the night with stellar views of Riverfire’s firework and light show with some top-notch packages to help you celebrate! A general admission ticket is just $35 and includes a gift on arrival. Those keen to go all out can opt for the $149 ticket, which includes a three-hour all-inclusive VIP canape and drinks package. Fiume Bar at Crystalbrook Vincent, Brisbane City: Escape the bustling Howard Smith Wharves and take in sweeping river and city views from underneath Brisbane’s Story Bridge at Fiume Bar at Crystalbrook Vincent. Good vibes will be in high supply from 5:00 pm, with three hours of delectable canapes and live food stations. Plus, you’ll be able to wet your whistle with a luxe beverage package of wine, beer and a signature cocktail on arrival. The Terrace, South Brisbane: Snag a vantage point without equal and witness Brisbane City come alive this Riverfire at The Terrace atop Emporium Hotel South Bank. For $299 per person you can enjoy four hours worth of premium canapes and late-night bites, as well as a decadent house-made dessert display. You can wash it all down with flutes filled with Mumm champagne, tipples from the Olmeca Altos Tequila pop-up margarita bar, Queensland spirits, a selection of fine wines, as well as select tap beer and non-alcoholic options. Popolo, South Brisbane: With a kick-ass view across the river, Popolo is a primo place to pull up a seat for Riverfire. On Saturday September 2 from 5:00 pm, guests can enjoy a three-hour premium beverage package and a delicious set menu of Italian eats. Think crispy bread with burrata, truffle and olive oil, seared scallops with cauliflower puree and lemon oil, and char-grilled sovereign lamb cutlets with peperonata (sweet cooked-down bell peppers) and goats curd. Eagles Nest, Kangaroo Point: Watch the night sky light up at Eagles Nest in Kangaroo Point when Riverfire rolls into town. From 5:00–9:00 pm, enjoy a four-hour all-inclusive food and drink party package. Get your tickets now from $249 online.

Mr Percival’s, Brisbane City: Mr Percival’s will be turning on the sound system and firing up the party for its annual Riverfire celebration this year. Music, cocktails and good times will be flowing from 5:00 pm. Cocktail-style bookings are available for groups of six or more, with a minimum spend of $100 per person. Felons Brewing Co., Brisbane City: Felons Brewing Co. will be bringing the bang as Riverfire ignites in 2023. Secure your perfect seat and dig into the mouth-watering set menu of elevated eats, featuring Kilroy sirloin and an artisanal cheese board for $85 per person. Ciao Papi, Brisbane City: Gather your famiglia and get ready to watch the sky light up this Riverfire at Ciao Papi! Enjoy a delicious riverside seated feast for $110 that includes all of your favourite Ciao Papi dishes served share-style over four courses, including sumptuous burrata, freshly baked scallops, chargrilled sirloin and more. Plus, this three-hour offering includes an Italian beverage package to keep your whistle wet throughout the night. Tickets are $110 per adult, with tickets for bambinis under 14 just $50. Stanley, Brisbane City: Join the throng at Stanley for front-row seats to the firework display as Riverfire kicks off Brisbane Festival on Saturday September 2. Savour the celebrations with a special-edition fire banquet curated specifically by head chef Louis Tikaram, and kick the night off with a glass of Louis Roederer Champagne on arrival. Felons Barrel Hall, Brisbane City: Treat your tastebuds to terrific eats and beers while watching the sky light up at Felons Barrel Hall. The menu features dishes like sourdough with cultured butter and wattleseeds, sashimi with ponzu, golden sesame, daikon and sea grape, seasonal Urban Valley mushroom risotto with grana padano, and black Angus eye fillet with pumpkin, dukkha, pepitas and red wine jus. Soleil Pool Bar, South Bank: This Riverfire, book a booth at Soleil Pool Bar and take in breathtaking views of the Brisbane City as it lights up in glowing colours.
