One of our favourite riverside fiestas, Sea to the City, is returning to our fine city later this month, dedicating an entire day to fresh ocean-caught bites. This year’s event will once again shine a spotlight on bugs and oysters – forms and varieties of which will be simmered, steamed, sauteed and served in pop-up sites across a selection of Brisbane’s best riverfront restaurants from Eagle Street Pier to Customs House. If you have a fondness for fish more than an obsession for oysters, the participating restaurants will all have other in-venue food options on the day, so you can trust that you won’t be going home hungry.
Specially curated menus have been designed by 13 restaurants in the precinct, all showcasing fresh seafood items – COPPA, Blackbird Bar & Grill, City Winery, Naga, Madame Wu, Rico Bar & Dining, Fatcow Steak & Lobster, Customs House and many more will all be plating up the freshest catches. Hungry folk can expect to devour the likes of Moreton Bay bug brioche rolls, blue swimmer crab mac-and-cheese croquettes, bug-and-prawn arancini, scallop tikka masala, and handmade crab spring rolls. Oh, and freshly shucked oysters will be aplenty. Event goers will also be treated to live music on the day and there will be a bunch of breezy licensed areas to perch with a tipple. The food fiesta will begin at 11:00 am and run until 6:00 pm, so you can snack and sip until the sun sets.
Entry is free for Sea to the City! To register your interest for the event or to peep the exclusive menus, swim over to the Dine BNE City website.
