In case you’ve missed it for the past 28 years, the Tattersall’s Club Landscape Art Prize is a pretty huge deal in the Australian art scene. On the cusp of its 30th anniversary, the exhibition has received its largest number of submissions to date – coming in with a tidy 93 entries, to be exact. This pool of creatives includes some seriously impressive alumni, with a total of 26 major national award-winning artists showcasing work this year. Amongst the selections you will find artwork from 2010 Archibald Prize winner Sam Leach, Archibald and Wynne Prize winner John Beard, Glover Prize winner Josh Foley, and Gallipoli Prize winners Amanda Penrose Hart and Steve Lopes. The exhibition will be open to the public at Riverside Centre from September 10–21.

If you think the paintings submitted in the Tattersall’s Club Landscape Art Prize are all traditional forms, you would be mistaken – the rules for this particular prize are nice and broad, meaning there is a fantastic variation throughout the entire exhibition. From cosmic creations to famous landmarks, the landscape subject has been widely interpreted by the amazing selection of artists who have participated. All of the works will be judged by an expert panel – including former winner Dr David Middlebrook, art valuer Bettina Macaulay, Griffith University Art Museum Director Angela Goddard, and Tattersall’s Club committee member Stuart Waddington – with a winner taking home the massive $30,000 prize on Wednesday September 5.
