It’s often said that absence makes the heart grow fonder and it couldn’t be more true in this instance. When COVID-19 forced a city-wide shutdown, suddenly we felt a deep, nagging theatre-shaped void in our collective hearts. If you too felt the pangs and missed the feeling of experiencing theatre live in the flesh, lament no longer because Billie Brown Theatre is emerging from lock-down with a little pep in its step. Yes, theatre lovers, the rehearsals are underway, the scene is set and the COVID-Safe plans are in place so all that is missing is you, dear reader.
The Holidays is set to celebrate Queensland Theatre’s sensational return whilst simultaneously closing out the 2020 season. The work was written by David Megarrity and directed by Matilda Award-winning Bridget Boyle, and stars Queensland stage royalty Bryan Probets and Louise Brehmer, so you know you’re in for a treat. It’s a disarming chronicle about family, for families. An emotional tale of relationships, mortality and human connection – it’s a show for sons, fathers, grandfathers, and anyone who loves one. As a result of COVID-Safe measures, the capacity of the theatre has been reduced however, to compensate, the season will run for longer. The Holidays will show at Queensland Theatre from November 14 through to December 12. All ticket holders will be contacted to arrange transfers to the new month-long season of the finale show for 2020 however a limited number of tickets will also be released for sale on October 15. Keep an eye on Queensland Theatre’s website for details.
