Step inside a life-sized book at Museum of Brisbane’s new interactive exhibition The Storytellers: Next Chapter

With La Niña set to take our summer plans inside, we feel pretty lucky that there are a bunch of exciting things you can do indoors in Brisbane. Arriving at just the right time to entertain not just us, but the little ones, is Museum of Brisbane’s new interactive exhibition The Storytellers: Next Chapter, which is set to turn the traditional museum experience on its head. From December 9, you and your tribe have the opportunity to plant sunflowers, graffiti jail cells and enter a life-sized storybook.

Creativity will take centre stage at The Storytellers: Next Chapter, which is building upon MoB’s award-winning exhibition, The Storytellers, and creating a kid-friendly wonderland where drawing on the walls is not only allowed, but encouraged. This artistic playground will let event-goers craft chaos – you can do everything from add graffiti tags to a tiny cell inside Boggo Road Gaol, or practise using your green thumb and plant a handmade fabric sunflower in a field of yellow beauties.

Those who like to colour outside of the lines can step in to a life-sized colouring-in book where you can add your own flair to the black and white interior of an old Queenslander – an out-of-the-box activity inspired by a Nick Earls short story. Other highlights include Flood Memories, where you can draw a memory of when the water rose, as well as Retro Interior, a huge and colourful collage of old-fashioned gems. Eager to let imaginations run wild? All of these exciting events are happening on different days throughout the exhibition’s run from December 9 to January 23, so we suggest hopping on to MoB’s website to find out the best time to book in to.
