It’s a Tinseltown takeover – queen of sparkle Rachel Burke brings pizzazz to the ‘burbs

When it comes to items that radiate pure joy, few things can trump tinsel. The humble sparkly strands are perfect for adding pop and pizzazz to pretty much anything – after all, even the most mundane things can go from drab to fab with a little bit of shine. One person who knows this all too well is Brisbane artist Rachel Burke, the multidisciplinary maverick behind i make. you wear it. From March 15–18, Rachel will be in-centre at Westfield Carindale creating bespoke works of wearable art for her Tinseltown takeover – and you’d better believe it’s going to get glittery up in there.

If you are familiar with the work of Rachel Burke, it would come as no surprise that she is the mayor of Tinseltown. Her ridiculous levels of creativity have seen her slay the Brisbane arts scene through multiple exhibitions and activations, and now she is coming to Westfield Carindale to spread her joy (and skills) a little further. Rachel has been hard at work tinstalling her Tinseltown takeover, bringing in sparkle by the absolute bucketload to transform The Studio into a glittering paradise.

There will be a whole heap of rad activities happening throughout the Tinseltown takeover, from interactive workshops to live demonstrations and even the chance to win one of Rachel’s baller jackets. Throughout the course of the takeover Rachel will create eight of her custom jackets live in the centre, which will then be put on display for the following week. Shoppers can also take part in exclusive free bedazzling sessions with Rachel, giving them the chance to turn everyday items into jaw-dropping statement pieces. You can register for free right here, but don’t delay – these spots will disappear fast.

Can’t resist a good bedazzling session? You can witness Tinseltown in all of its glory from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm daily from March 15–18 in The Studio at Westfield Carindale. You can book in for a free hands-on workshop with Rachel through Westfield Carindale.
