Get super sartorial with our top five picks for Brisbane Fashion Month

Hardcore shoppers, Vogue enthusiasts and those who appreciate pretty things are in for a huge treat come October when Brisbane Fashion Month brings a white-hot injection of fresh style to the city. Spring is always such a fab time in the fashion circle, so what better way to celebrate than to bring the best of the Sunshine State to our very own backyard? The glamour, the champagne and the cutting-edge threads are set to paint the town and bring more swag than a Kanye video. Don’t think it’s all just runway, darling – with a line-up of activities ranging from rare films to social media masterclasses, we’ve got the lowdown on the top five things you should check out during Brisbane Fashion Month.

Pop-Up Store – All month long, baby
Kicking off the top five at Brisbane Fashion Month is a dead-set gem. Setting up shop in Wintergarden for the entire duration of Brisbane Fashion Month, this ain’t just your ordinary pop-up store. Featuring designers from all over Queensland, there promises to be everything from underwear to evening wear. The labels are a sweet mix of both emerging and established peeps, so keep your eyes peeled for new names on the racks. The pop-up will play host to weekly events and often the faces behind the labels stop by, so you can rub shoulders with great minds.

Film Screenings – October 1–2
Let’s face it – those in the fashion industry know a thing or two about curating. The clever cats behind Brisbane Fashion Month have handpicked a selection of films that showcase the untold stories from inside their often-exclusive world, all showing at the Griffith Film School Cinema. Viewers are invited to peek inside the wardrobes of New York’s more senior sartorial legends in Advanced Style, follow the life and career of an icon in Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel and celebrate the work of a master in Bill Cunningham: New York. In an Australian premiere there will be a screening of The Men of the Cloth, an insanely cool documentary that explores the nitty-gritty of Italian suit tailors. Such culture!

Finale Party – October 28
Going out with a bang is important. According to a certain famous smooth talker, after the show is the afterparty. How can you argue with that logic? This event pretty much defines the term ‘baller’ – 300 industry VIP guests, amazing clothes (obvi), champagne and live entertainment all set in the rap-videoesque surrounds of the Porsche Centre. It’s a fitting end to a month of high-end fun set to raise the bar in homegrown fashion– New York be damned, Brisbane’s got this.
