Shake it up – the beloved Valley Fiesta returns as a year-long weekly event series

If you’re a Brisbane local who loves a bit of live music, arts and culture action, odds are you would be familiar with the beloved Valley Fiesta. This annual affair has seen many evolutions over the years, going from a one-off street party through to a festival that celebrates and champions our city’s amazing arts scene. Well folks, the Valley Fiesta is back – just not as you know it. It has now been extended into a series of year-long weekly pop-ups to keep the good times rolling well into the rest of the year and beyond.

Considering Brisbane’s silly season falls during one of the most beautiful times of the year, it makes sense that Brisbane City Council would want to extend the Valley Fiesta celebrations into a year-long series. Instead of the traditional festival week, patrons can now enjoy free live sets from local emerging artists every single Friday – what a perfect start to the weekend! Various Valley locations including Brunswick Street Mall, Chinatown Mall and Bakery Lane will play host to various artists from 2:00–4:00 pm – perfect for a pre-dinner hang, a post-work wander through The Valley or just a nice, chill way to segue into your weekend.

This isn’t all – Valley Fiesta has even more local-music love in store. This new era sees the launch of the Valley Fiesta Spring and Summer Program, which sees the Brunswick Street Mall turn into a utopia of free live music on the first Saturday of every month. From 1:00–7:00 pm, the mall’s stage will play host to your new favourite bands across a huge range of genres – from indie, funk and electro through to reggae, jazz, pop and folk, you never know what you’re going to get (but it’s all great). The Fiesta is just one of many killer events that Brisbane City Council will be putting on all year round – keep your eyes peeled for markets, festivals and more live music galore.

If you want a heads up on the acts you can catch during Valley Fiesta, you can check out My Valley’s event calendar for updates.
